A pirate from birth. |
Here's our little tapatio (that's what you call someone born in Guadalajara) - Jaroslav Aleksandr Cortez! He was born on December 7th, weighing 7 pounds, 12 ounces and 21 inches long. We are completely and utterly enamored. So far, he's such a tranquilo little guy and a born snuggler that I'm not sure how we got so lucky. Genetics, who knew?
I would also like to apologize for not posting anything sooner, but first he was two weeks late. Then, I went through three days of on again, off again labor, and finally after going through EVERY single stage of labor including beginning the pushing part, we had to have a Caesarean section. Needless to say, it was traumatic. I did a lot of crying and was an absolute wreck for several days.
Of course, we now have a beautiful baby boy, and today was the first day that Vlad didn't have to set me down on the toilet. So things are looking up.

Thank goodness for my sister who helped us out this week. |
Congrats to you two! And to the little guy.
ReplyDeleteAwww that is the cutest little guy ever! Congratulations and glad all is well. Love, Sheila and Scott in Texas
ReplyDeleteCongrats to you both!
ReplyDeleteBorn with the ocean in his veins!
He'll be a great crew member to have on all your voyages! ;-)
Yea, well done you both, let's hope he grows sea legs soon and learns to love all things nautical. Dunc and Ruth
ReplyDeleteSo happy to see your beautiful boy. I can understand how hard it is to have your birth plans go awry, but it's all about the end game- and wow, what a gorgeous little bundle he is! Wishing you a smooth and speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteAdorable! You all look very tranquilo ~ so happy for you!
ReplyDeleteYou did an AMAZING job mama. Bringing a new person to planet earth is no easy task. Savor the now and enjoy inhaling that sweet, beautiful new baby!
ReplyDeleteOh Congrats!! How sweet. I'm sorry about your unexpected troubles during birth, but now you have a great story to tell. Can't wait to see him as he grows up on a boat! :)
ReplyDeleteOh my, he is pricelessly adorable! What an alert little guy. Guess he just needed to wait until he was good and ready, a personality trait that I'm sure will hold him in good stead. Have to say I LOVE the name. And what Behan said, yes. The end game is the important part and apparently it is a rousing success. Here's to a speedy recovery and lots and lots of snuggling! Give the little bebe one for us here in Washington.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for all the love, everyone!
ReplyDeleteOh warmest and most heartfelt congratulations! He is beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteA big warm welcome to your little man from all of us here on Mother Jones! xo!
